Biography
You are what you make yourself out to be. Aviery knows that first hand. Perfectionism? Check. Professionalism? Double check. You don't need to hold yourself to the status quo, and the tried and tested ways of doing stuff, making music (especially in Singapore), copying trends. The modus operandi of the band has always been to make the fantasized real in our union of melody and heaviness, emotion and obsession.
We in Aviery are all influenced by different sub-genres of rock and metal and proudly wear our varying influences on our sleeves. There's a general love for intricate metallic guitar melodies that ride over hardcore vocals, but also soft passages of piano pop that hint at the musical openness of the band.
Aviery has not always been the latest incarnation it is right now. Started in 2004 by Frederick, Dawn, Hafyz and John as a four-piece band, we jammed covers by bands like hopesfall, thrice, and silverstein, while working on a few originals that more accurately reflected the band's style. In early 2005, John and Hafyz left to pursue other interests in what was a major turning point for the band stylistically. Firdaus, Sufrin, and Adel were added soon after and they contributed majorly to a new heavier sound that has come to define the Aviery you recognize now.
